1. Sarung tangan pakai buang – diguna sewaktu membersihkan uri untuk mengekalkan kebersihan tangan.
2. Apron pakai buang – disarung agar dapat mengelakkan kotoran terkena pada pakaian.
3. Penutup mulut – dipakai untuk menghalang bau dan percikan air.
4. Asam jawa – digunakan untuk memudahkan proses membasuh dan menghilangkan bau hanyir darah pada uri.
5. Garam kasar - digunakan untuk memudahkan proses membasuh dan menghilangkan bau hanyir darah pada uri.
6. Asam keping – dibungkus bersama uri untuk meneutralkan bau bagi mengelakkan dihidu oleh binatang liar.
7. Kain putih – berfungsi untuk membalut uri yang telah siap dibasuh sebelum dimasukkan ke dalam periuk tanah.

Cara mencuci dan menanam uri:
1. Sebaiknya uri terus dicuci sebaik sahaja dibawa balik ke rumah. Namun, jika terpaksa menangguhkan pembersihan dan penanam uri, anda boleh memasukkan uri di dalam peti ais sementara waktu bagi mengelakkan uri rosak dan berbau.
2. Bersihkan uri dengan air bersih. Buang segala darah yang masih melekat pada uri. Basuh dengan garam kasar dan asam jawa untuk menghilangkan bau hanyir uri tersebut.
3. Setelah bersih dibasuh, bungkus uri yang telah ditabur bersama dengan asam keping dan sedikit garam kasar dengan kain dan letakkan di dalam bekas agar air tidak menitik.
4. Cangkul tanah sedalam yang mungkin agar haiwan tidak dapat menghidu bau uri setelah ditanam.
5. Masukkan uri yang telah dibungkus ke dalam tanah dan kambus tanah tersebut. Tidak perlu menghadap kiblat, baca mentera atau apa-apa ritual sewaktu menanam uri. Cukup sekadar bacaan Bismillah dan selawat.
